I haven’t written for a little, I have been taking some time for myself to focus on my hopes and dreams for the future. I am a strong believer that sometimes you need to cocoon to properly look inwards, to be able to talk and listen to your inner self. Too many times the voices and opinions of others become louder than our own and we lose sight of what we truly desire and what is best for us.
I have been told many times in my life that I hope and dream too much and by doing so, I set myself up for failure and disappointment. For a long time I allowed those words to swirl around my head, thinking if I listen to everyone else then that would prevent me from getting hurt or letting myself down. I stopped dreaming, I held myself back from hoping and just stayed exactly where I was. Growth scared me, because what if they were right? What if I failed? Or better yet, what if I succeeded? Honestly, I didn’t know which one scared me the most.
But here is the thing I have learned these last couple of years. Those people telling me I dream too much never allowed themselves to dream at all. A true dreamer knows and understands that not every dream is meant to become your reality or your forever but how would you know if you don’t try? So what if you try something new and it doesn’t end up working or doesn’t feed your soul as you hoped. You would never know if you didn’t allow yourself to try. People don’t get their dream job or dream house without the dream part because how do you know what you want in life if you do not allow yourself to dream.
Some people’s dreams may be to live a simple life, with the security of a decent paying job and nothing ever really changing from their day to day. Others may dream to travel and see the world or to open up their own business and create their little empire and be their own boss. People dream to always learn and try new things and see as many places they can. It doesn’t matter if you dream to hike every mountain in the world or to open a pet sanctuary or to simply enjoy tea on your front porch every night. All that matters in that what you create for yourself makes your soul genuinely happy and free.
So here is my advice to you from one dreamer to another;
Allow yourself to dream, to learn, to grow and allow yourself to truly find what makes YOU happy. No one else needs to agree with your hopes and dreams because they aren’t for anyone else other than yourself. You owe it to yourself to truly find what makes your soul glow.
What is meant to be in your life will be!!
